Carl McKinney

Photographer, Artist, Designer, and Volunteer Carl McKinney is a multi faceted professional currently working out of his home state of Ohio. A graduate from The Ohio State University with a degree in Landscape Architecture and Minor in African American Studies he used those acquired skillets to craft places of purpose around the greater Columbus region.

His competence as a photographer was developed later in life with him first picking up a camera in 2007. Recently, he completed a project dedicated to showcasing the chronology of a year. The zeitgeist captured in the resulting years worth of work is codified as a calendar with each day featuring an image depicting a moment of significance. Done using all iPhone each image was taken, culled, edited, designed each day for 365 sequential days. This work #instacalendar was used as an experiment to harness the power and legitimacy of mobile hardware, software, services and was highlighted in several local publications including Columbus Alive and The Columbus Dispatch. #instacalendar was eventually exhibited as an art installation that allowed for more then 300 viewers to experience the year told through pictures.

Carl is still actively engaged in various volunteer organizations throughout the city of Columbus. He lovingly devotes his time to family, recently marrying his fiancé Alex in June and raising a productive young daughter Kayden.
