1. What do you do and where do you do it?

Professionally, I manage Sole Classics (shoe & clothing boutique in Short North Arts District of CO, OH). At Sole Classics, I do what most retail managers do: create schedules, make sales, coach employees, keep the store looking tidy, help buy product, etc. I’m also responsible for 99% of visuals which includes Instagram photos, web product photos, other promotional photography, and store merchandising. Personally, I spend a lot of time working on freelance photo jobs and projects. My photojournalism projects are usually inspired by social issues, I like shaping and uplifting the culture by imagery. I enjoy painting here and there. I like sharing and spreading ideas that have empowered and motivated me, I do this through any medium I can. Although, it’s been difficult to keep up with, I started a social concept/movement in 2011: #TIOBS (The Idea of Being Somebody), the concept is centered around self-actualization.

2. Who/What are your biggest influences?
Aside from obvious influences like my family, I’m inspired by people in general. I like hearing about everybody’s unique story and path. I’m fascinated by reality and authenticity. Reality can be tough to deal with, so it’s inspiring to learn how people get over their hurdles in life. Lastly, I’m really inspired by unity and acceptance. It seems like there are so many pointless dividing characteristics in the world, so many things that create “sides” and divide people, deterring us from positive relationships, from the neighborhood one is from to the type of hat they wear, It’s always nice to feel and have authentic connections with people, especially people that possess characteristics that we don’t.

3. What does the term Creative Control mean to you?
To me, creative control means the ball is in my court. I have control over the things I do and create. I think we all have a fundamental level of control whether it’s known or not. The knowledge and realization of our creative control is power, it’s a great thing to know.
